Raymond Wennekes
Two-time Dutch underwater photography champion.
Raymond Wennekes is an avid underwater photographer. Born in 1982 in Roosendaal. His first introduction to diving was in the Dominican Republic in 2000. He returned from this trip so enthusiastic that he got his certification in the Netherlands. However, it took many years before Raymond actually started photographing. In 2012, he bought his first underwater camera - and it wasn't long before he was hooked! Not much later, he expanded the set with an underwater flash, after which he says he really got serious about photography. Raymond has been competing in the Zeeland, Open Dutch (ONK) and Open Belgian Underwater Photography Championships (OBK) since 2014, and he does so more than creditably. After a single top 3 ranking at the ONK in 2015, Raymond achieved his first title as Dutch Champion in 2016 to strongly prolong it 2017. Raymond's photos are recognisable by the creativity you see in them. He always tries to make his photos slightly different from each other. An important factor here is the lighting. Raymond sets the bar very high for himself and thus gets the most out of it, which is clearly visible in his photos.
